Premier Shopping Streets in the World

Fifth Avenue

Fifth Avenue is a major thoroughfare in the center of the borough of Manhattan in New York City, USA.

Fifth Avenue serves as a symbol of wealthy New York. It is consistently ranked as one of the most expensive streets in the world, on a par with Paris, London, and Tokyo lease prices: the “most expensive street in the world” moniker changes depending on currency fluctuations and local economic conditions from year to year. For several years starting in the mid-1990s, the shopping district between 49th and 57th Streets was ranked as having the world’s most expensive retail spaces on a cost per square foot basis

Via Montenapoleone

Via Montenapoleone is an elegant street in Milan, Italy, famous for fashion and jewelry shops. It is the most important street of the Milan Fashion District (Italian Quadrilatero della moda) where many well-known fashion designers have their high-end boutiques and stores from Italian designers to all the world famous brands. It is comparable to other world-famous streets including 5th Ave in New York City, Avenue Montaigne and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, and other famous Italian avenues such as Via dei Tornabuoni in Florence and Via Condotti in Rome.

Oxford Street

Oxford Street is a major thoroughfare in London, England in the City of Westminster. With over 300 shops, it is Europe’s busiest shopping street, as well as the most dense.[1] The street derives its name from being part of the old London—Oxford Road which began at Newgate, City of London. Today the road forms part of the A40, although it is not signposted as this, like other roads in central London.

Champs-Élysées

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is the most prestigious avenue in Paris, France. With its cinemas, cafés, and luxury specialty shops, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées is one of the most famous streets in the world, and with rents as high as $1.50 million per 1,000 square feet (92.9 square meters) of space, it remains the most expensive strip of real estate in Europe. The name is French for Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed in Greek mythology.

The Avenue des Champs-Élysées is known in France as La plus belle avenue du monde (“The most beautiful avenue in the world”).The arrival of global chain stores in recent years has slightly changed its character, and in a first effort to stem these changes, the Paris City government (which has called this trend “banalisation”) decided in 2007 to ban the Swedish clothing chain H&M from opening a store on the avenue. In 2008, however, American clothing chain Abercrombie & Fitch was given permission to open a store

Vogue America May 2009 Cover Girls

Really really stunning!!!The most awaited May 2009 American Vogue cover featuring gorgeous models is out. The front cover went to two of Ms. Anna’s favorite old angels, Liya Kebede and Natalia Vodianova and shockingly, Anna Jagodzinska, who came in as a surprise.

I love the concept of the cover but a few of them undergone too much photoshop and I don’t like the casting that much.

It’s about time for Vogue America revealed new magazine cover with models but again for Natalia Vodianova. Isn’t she already too established, too much of a veteran to even be considered as a ‘face of the moment?

vogue-may-2009

Out of everyone in that flux, Natasha Poly deserved the main spot. She is the closest thing to a supermodel that we have now in the runways. She visibly works harder among other girls. It’s the third consecutive time for Vogue America featured a black woman on the cover. Is it signifies black dominates America? I don’t know the reason behind of this concept but I know the cover is really really beautiful and artistic.

This could probably hit the magazine stands as the month of May 2009 is coming. I can’t wait for myself to buy a copy of this latest issue, maybe two or three copies because it would probably take a decade before we get another cover of a runway models.

The Great Paul Smith

paul-smithA great British success story, Paul Smith‘s smart, cool clothes and idiosyncratic accessories have earned him a place in the front ranks of British fashion. Paul Smith’s introduction into fashion was completely accidental.

Born in Nottingham in 1946, Smith started as a gofer in a local clothing warehouse at the age of 18. In 1970, he opened his first shop with a few hundred pounds of savings and took evening classes in tailoring, gradually developing his own style. By 1976, he was playing consultant to an Italian shirt manufacturer and to the International Wool Secretariat. In the same year, he showed his first collections in Paris under the Paul Smith label.

Today Paul Smith Ltd boasts a chain of around 225 shops and concessions, 200 of which are in Japan, where Smith is a local celebrity. In May 1998, he won endless column inches and credit for introducing a new retail experience in his shop-in-a-house on Notting Hill’s Kensington Park Road. And, although his company’s annual turnover is over £100 million, it still manages to retain Smith’s personal touch: a true man of the people, he advises and pilots each division himself, as well as finding time to oversee the running of the shops.

Smith was made a CBE in 1994 for services to the fashion industry and won a Queen’s Award for Export the following year. To celebrate his 25th anniversary in fashion, London’s Design Museum dedicated an exhibition to him, entitled Paul Smith True Brit. He was named Designer of the Year for four years running by the readers of GQ. On 24 November 2000, he was granted the ultimate honour, a knighthood and his wife’s hand in marriage.

The Real Moments in “Celebritydom” Issue

As real women in today’s celebrity-obsessed world, the pressure to live up to an ideal becomes more and more of a challenge. I long for the days before Paris Hilton and Vicktoria Beckham’s thinspiring physique have become something to aspire for.

Celebritydom has become an epidemic worldwide and this is become the frontal issue. We can’t deny that we are born in a social world.
Celebrities are people like us. They are also human being who needs food to eat and rest. We are the same but there are some instances that they are extremely talented while others are famous because they are famous. They earn for their fortunes.
Unlike celebrities, we don’t have a stew of assistant and personal stylists at our back and call to fix us into perfection.
Celebrities do some product endorsements and in the real scenario, many are using their fame to promote issues and causes. Many actors, singers and athletes established charitable foundations in their names. They use their celebrity power to increase public awareness of everything from diseases to calamities down to political issues.

I certainly have respect for those who dedicate their lives to entertain us, but we need to think before we devote our life to them and you should think twice before doing the same.

Thankful to celebrities you have helped funding their charities through the world of celebrity giving.

Cheers to celebrities for infecting us their “celebritydom” disease!:)
